Points to note when replacing a regular knife shaft with a spiral knife shaft
Feb 16,2022
Notes on replacing a plain knife shaft with a spiral knife shaft: 1. Check the precision of the original bearing. It is recommended to replace it with a new one. The replacement bearing should be a P5 grade low-noise, high-precision bearing.
2. Check the inner diameter of the bearing seat (years of use can cause wear and tear of the bearing inner hole, resulting in excessive noise and potentially damaging the bearing in a short time, causing the bearing to run on the inner or outer circle). If there is a problem with the bearing seat, it must be replaced with a new one.
3. Before installing the bearing, check and clean the shaft and bearing seat; add 3# white lubricating grease inside the bearing; when installing the bearing, press it in evenly and smoothly (those with hydraulic equipment should use hydraulic equipment to install the bearing; those without hydraulic equipment should use a steel sleeve to contact the inner ring of the bearing and tap it in evenly to avoid damaging the outer circle of the shaft head by striking it from one side only).
4. There are four cutting edges. If one cutting edge of the blade is dull, tighten the screw counterclockwise, clean the knife seat and blade, and it is recommended to use gasoline or thinner for easy cleaning. When changing the cutting edge, pay attention: each blade has a mark, and the orientation must be consistent to avoid unevenness in the wood planing surface due to incorrect replacement of old and new blades.
5. If a screw is too tight or rusty and difficult to loosen, first place the head into the screw's cross-shaped opening and tap it gently with a small hammer (be careful not to damage the blade), then use a wrench to easily loosen it. To avoid the screw rusting and becoming difficult to loosen the next time you change the blade, it is recommended that each time you change the blade, clean the screw hole and apply a little machine oil to the screw before screwing it into the hole. This will ensure that the screw can be easily loosened the next time you change the blade.
